JED Waterproofing

We put it in writing.
That is the whole point.

A waterproofing warranty is only worth something if it is specific, signed and issued on handover day. Ours is, on every single job.

The promise

If it fails, we come back free.

We issue a written structural warranty of up to 15 years on our membrane systems and up to 5 years on sealants. If anything we installed fails within that period, we return and rectify it at no cost to you.

The warranty is backed by JED Waterproofing Pty Ltd, not a fly-by-night contractor who will not be around in five years. Licence Builder’s Licence No. 000000C, ABN 00 000 000 000, and full public liability and workmanship cover on every job.

Old sealant, grout and membrane removed, substrate repaired, primed and ready. Full protection and dust extraction.

04

Waterproof & Seal

Bond-breaker, primer, membrane coats, falls and flexible sealant applied to specification with correct joint profiles.

05

Test & Document

Flood test, photographic report, warranty certificate issued and the space handed back ready to use.

Read the fine print

Exactly what is
covered.

We would rather set out the limits up front than have an argument in five years. Here is the warranty in plain English.

Covered

  • Membrane failure, bond failure or delamination
  • Water tracking through a wall or slab we sealed
  • Recurrence of the original leak in the same location
  • Movement at sealed junctions, up to the standard movement joint
  • Workmanship defects in sealant and grout application
  • Manufacturer-backed product warranties, passed through to you

Not covered

  • New leaks from a different, unrelated source
  • Damage caused after handover by third parties or later trades
  • Structural movement or building movement beyond design tolerance
  • Stormwater ingress through a roof, not a wet area we sealed
  • Cosmetic wear from normal use, cleaning or age

Unsure whether your situation is covered? Send the photographs and we will tell you before you spend anything — including if the answer is that another trade needs to look at it first.

How a job is signed off

Five stages from
photo to certificate.

Every job follows the same sequence. No stage is skipped because it is raining or because we are running late.

  1. 01

    Book & assess

You send photos or book an inspection. We tell you honestly whether the job is waterproofing, tiling or plumbing — and we will refer you on if it is not ours to fix.

  2. 02

    Fixed written quote

One itemised price covering every line of the scope: materials, preparation, labour, clean-up and certification. No variation notices halfway through.

  3. 03

    Strip & rebuild

Old sealant and grout removed mechanically, substrate repaired and primed, bond-breaker and two-coat membrane applied to the correct film thickness with proper falls.

  4. 04

    Flood tested

The finished area is filled and tested before we leave. If it fails we strip it again at our cost — that has happened three times in fifteen years.

  5. 05

    Handover pack

Photographs of each stage, product data sheets, cure times and your signed warranty certificate, issued the same day.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often across Sydney.

How much does waterproofing cost in Sydney?

A standard shower strip and re-seal starts at $495 and typically completes in one day. Balconies are priced from $145 per square metre, full bathroom membrane systems from around $1,250, and kitchens or splashback resealing from $395. Every quote we issue is fixed and itemised after seeing photos or completing an inspection — you will never receive a bill higher than the agreed price.

Do you actually remove tiles?

In the majority of cases, no. Around nine out of ten leaking showers we see are caused by failed grout and sealant at the wall-to-floor junction, which can be resolved with a complete strip, membrane and re-seal without touching a single tile. We will only recommend tile removal where the substrate or the existing membrane has genuinely failed, and we will show you the evidence before recommending it.

How quickly can someone attend?

Same-day appointments are usually available across metropolitan Sydney, and our emergency service operates 24 hours a day including weekends and public holidays. For an active leak that is causing damage we aim to have a crew on site within a few hours of your call to stop the water first, then quote the permanent repair.

How long until the shower can be used?

Membrane systems need between 24 and 48 hours to cure before water exposure depending on the product, temperature and humidity. We will always tell you the exact cure time for your job on the day, and for most shower reseals you can use the shower again the following day.

What does your warranty cover?

Our membrane systems carry a written structural warranty of up to 15 years and sealants up to 5 years, issued as a certificate with photographic records of the installation. The warranty covers labour and materials for the waterproofing work we performed. If anything we installed fails within that period, we return and rectify it at no cost.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold full public liability and workmanship cover, our applicators are accredited for the membrane systems we install, and every completed job is documented and issued to you for your builder, tiler or insurer. Licence details appear on all quotes and invoices.

Do you work with insurers and body corpora?

Routinely. We prepare photographic investigation reports, scope-of-works documentation and certificates of compliance that insurers and strata schemes accept, and we can liaise directly with the appointed builder or assessor to keep the claim moving.

What areas do you service?

We cover all of metropolitan Sydney and most of greater NSW, including the Northern Beaches, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands and the Hawkesbury. If you are just outside our radius, call us — we travel further for larger works.
